Edgar Allen Poe

An author that serves as a mentor for me would have to be Edgar Allen Poe. Mainly because of his style of writing. It's a more dark and somewhat Gothic style of writing which I tend to gravitate towards, because i'm interested in that kind of stuff. Anyways, I thought I might share an excerpt of one of his works. In The Raven one part goes "And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door, that I scarce was sure I heard you - here I opened wide the door - darkness there and nothing more." which shows how Poe describes how dark and depressing it is. This influences my view of reading and even other things like music.
